Microchipping

Whatever the case may be, it takes minutes for your pet to get lost! Microchipping is one of the most effective methods to reduce the fear of losing your pet and improve the chances of identifying your pet if he or she is lost. 

What is a Microchip?
Microchips are tiny implants that are inserted under skin, between the shoulder blades and act as identifiers. They are about the size of a grain of rice and can be inserted with a needle in a relatively painless way (no anesthesia necessary).
Each microchip contains a registration number, so anyone with a microchip scanner can access your name and contact information. Microchips are like a collar,  it is a good way to identify him or her in the event she or he gets lost and ends up at a veterinary office, animal shelter, or with an animal control officer.

What Happens if Your Pet Gets Lost?
If your pet is lost, the person who finds him/her can take him/her to a local vet or shelter to be scanned. If your microchip information is up-to-date, the scanner will find your contact information and the vet or shelter staff can give you a call. You are able to reunite with your pet and return him home easily.
